The Lenormand cards were once designed by Madame Lenormand, a famous French fortune-teller from the 18th century who worked for years as Napoleon and Josephine's house card reader.
Whereas the tarot is mainly about the human psyche and gaining insight, the Lenormand cards are really meant to make predictions.
For this reason, they are popularly known as 'divination cards'.
