Slimming down and gorging yourself on your junk day. Tip of the week 4

lose weight without dieting tip of the week 4

Slimming down and the junk day. I say do it! In the fourth week of your journey to your new 'me', I introduce you to the so-called 'junk day', also known as 'cheat day'. You have tried hard for four weeks, the first pounds or even kilos are off so from now on you can have a junk day once a week.

What does this entail?

Junk in English means junk. Or junk. Or something along similar lines. Either way, it covers the whole gamut and you understand exactly what is meant by it. On your junk day, you get to eat junk! Woohoe!

Still, we won't overdo it!

In slimming, the junk day was created to console yourself for the rest of the week with the thought that on your junk day you can let go of the reins a little. After all, no one keeps snacking or sinning ever again, so it's best to allow yourself this once a week.

However, being a little less strict with yourself is different from running around stuffing yourself all day!

A 'junk day' is a fixed day in the week, for example on Sunday or another day when it is convenient for you (but the same day in the week each time) when you are allowed to eat anything you normally don't eat (anymore).

Even on your junk day, just eat six times a day. Three meals, three snacks in between. On your junk day, you are allowed to choose such things as:

  • White bread, instead of wholemeal.
  • Sweet or fattier spreads instead of low-fat ones
  • A bowl of chips, instead of a bowl of raw vegetables.
  • An apple pie instead of a sandwich.

In short: a whole day of sinning is allowed!

Can that do no harm?

No.

Junk food

If you take in a limited amount of calories every day, your body will get used to it. The body is and always will be a system that adapts to what it is given. If you take in more calories in one day than your body is normally used to, your body will immediately adapt to this by ramping up fat burning considerably.

When you neatly stick to your healthy schedule again the next day, your metabolism is still slightly elevated so everything is neatly balanced again almost immediately.

So after eating junk food for one day, your body does not immediately store it as fat. Plus, the junk day makes it easier to maintain your healthy new lifestyle while losing weight.

Again, don't overdo it. Sitting around all day gorging yourself until you get sour is definitely not the way to go. A bowl of chips is enough, a whole bag is unnecessary. A burger for lunch is nice, eating the whole vending machine is complete madness. Also, limit yourself to one biscuit and not the whole drum.

Do start exercising again immediately the following days and stick to your healthy eating schedule!

Also, don't eat all the yummy unhealthy things just 'because it's allowed' on this day, but only when you actually feel the need!

Chances are you don't even really crave it. Fine of course, it's mainly about the idea that you know it's allowed. The thought that once a week you can eat what you really like is already quite a comfort during weight loss.

TIP: Take the nutrition charts as a guide and on your junk day, pick something out if possible table three as a meal replacement and not as a snack between meals.
