Spice up your metabolism with herbs. Tip of the week 20

spice up your metabolism with herbs

Spice up your metabolism with herbs! Is it true that certain herbs can boost metabolism, and if so, how does that work? It is indeed true that some herbs stimulate digestion.

Well-known herbs that can positively affect digestion include:

  • basil
  • cayenne pepper
  • chilli powder
  • ginger
  • caraway
  • cinnamon
  • cardamom
  • cumin
  • coriander
  • nutmeg (small amount!)
  • paprika
  • rosemary
  • tabasco
  • black pepper

This also applies to spicy sauces like curry, sambal and mustard and hot peppers like jalapenos.

Speeding up your metabolism

So spicy food - if you like it and can tolerate it - can help you lose weight. Although it is of course advisable to stick to your healthy and regular diet and exercise regularly alongside this. But it is a nice and, above all, tasty aid.

Immerse yourself in Thai or Indonesian cuisine; in Thailand and Indonesia, on the contrary, they use spicy spices a lot and often, and meat and vegetables are prepared in such a way (briefly stir-fried in the wok which quickly sears the food) that the meals are quite low in fat.

With this, opt for unpolished rice instead of the regular white rice every now and then and you'll put a delicious, responsible, healthy meal on the table (often in no time)!

Be moderate when adding salt, though! Salt is bad for blood pressure and retains moisture.

Extra tip: Drink fresh mint tea after meals, this is a good thirst quencher and also additionally promotes digestion.
