What is face reading? What is face reading?

I now only do a face reading for business purposes. Unfortunately, requesting a face reading for individuals is no longer possible, apologies for the inconvenience. What is face reading? What is face reading? And what can you expect if you want a face reading performed by me?

Face-reading most probably comes from China, where people were already engaged in reading faces 3,000 years ago. This art is called Siang Mien and has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries.

Fortunately, there is now a lot of study material available on the subject. This has been different in the distant past...

Some 221 years BC, Emperor Tsin Che Wong decided to ban face-reading and had all literature on the subject destroyed. This was for the simple reason that he definitely did not want anyone to be able to read his true personality from his face.

Although Emperor Tsin Che Wong - and many with him - took face-reading quite seriously, Siang Mien falls under the heading of 'divination' due to lack of scientific evidence that it works.

But divination or not, like astrology and palmistry, face reading, or facial science, does also fall under the concept of 'ancient wisdom' and is not infrequently described as an 'art'.

Surely, if something is maintained for thousands of years, there will be something that is valuable to many people. And of course, the statement that the eyes are the mirror of the soul did not come out of the blue either.

Facials

Since I have been reading photographs for more than 30 years and can now fairly accurately read a person's character from their face based on these, I was curious to know what is next to the intuitive photo-reading even more was possible and I started looking into facial science.

With this, a world has opened up for me. By combining Siang Mien with intuitive photo readings, I have come to find face reading and photo reading even more fun and interesting.

Our face is a mixture of genetic predisposition, external factors and repeated use of certain facial muscles.

"From birth to age 25 you have the face you got from your parents, from 25 to 50 you create your own face and from age 50 you have the face you deserve." (Quote Lillian Bridges.)

I think there is a very large grain of truth in this. When we are born, we have a fairly symmetrical face with few prominent facial features.

However, as we get older, our face takes on more and more distinct features that show what kind of lifestyle we lead, whether we smoke, drink a lot of alcohol, get enough sleep, eat healthily and which facial muscles we use most often.

But what about the nose, lips, chin etc? Those don't change with age, do they?

Oh yes!

Eyelids droop, changing eye shape, eyebrows become thinner or wider, cheekbones, noses and chins grow or give way.

With age, the outer appearance adapts to the inner.

What we see and experience shapes our personality and our personality shapes our face. This is very apparent, for example, in people who have experienced war. Photographer Lalage Snow made an impressive reportage of soldiers before, during and after the war.

And whether it is a war or an illness, emotional or physical abuse, grief or loss, our face signs with everything we experience. Not only because we often use the same facial muscles during those periods (and emotions!) but also because of the fact that certain experiences have repercussions on our physical well-being. And this, in turn, is reflected in our face.

A face reading as an inner mirror

'Look in the mirror too,' is a common saying. We use this saying especially when we would like the other person to see his or her own faults too. But then again, when the person looks in the mirror, he or she also only sees the outside.

Or... would this saying be derived from the ancient facial science of Siang Mien?

Who knows. Either way, if you need a face reading for your client, candidate, article, TV programme or other business project, I will gladly take a closer look at the face of the person you would like to know more about for a razor-sharp analysis.

A comprehensive face reading, like a comprehensive horoscope or hand reading, can offer a lot of insight into a person's personality and identify the cause of certain fears, insecurities or behaviour patterns. It is also possible to have an overall health check, in which case we are talking about a facial diagnosis.

Although this method of face reading is called 'facial diagnosis', it is by no means intended to actually make a medical diagnosis.

A facial diagnosis is usually carried out to make the person in the photo more alert to their lifestyle and point out a possible predisposition to certain ailments so that, when in doubt, the person in question might be more likely to consult a doctor for a real medical diagnosis.

When you request a facial analysis - or diagnosis - from me, I read the face in question based on photos. You will receive the detailed report by e-mail in PDF file.
